Ratu Joni, as he is fondly known was buried at his chiefly island of Bau. Ratu Joni was also accorded a State funeral. He was a friend of France and was very supportive when the Embassy approached him during preparations for the Lecture on his late uncle, the Statesman, Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna last year to join the panel of moderators.

Mr Djokovic later joined the rest of the Diplomatic Corps at the chiefly island of Bau for the burial.
