CULINARY lecturers of the Fiji National University (FNU) completed a one-week upskilling course on Friday with two chefs from the Hospitality College of Tahiti.

The course was enabled through a partnership between the French Embassy and FNU. The head of culture education and science for the French Embassy, Emmanuelle Charrier, said this was an ongoing initiative by the embassy.

"The training took place in the context of an MOU signed in 2012 between the Hospitality College in Tahiti and FNU in order to develop technical exchange in the cooking area," she said.

The first training was organised in 2013 and was financially backed through the French Pacific Fund.

"FNU is an important partner for the French Fiji academic co-operation. We work together in different areas, in medicine, sports language and culinary."

The training this year was facilitated by Hospitality college of Tahiti Professor in cookery Yves Dhieras and Professor in pastry Jerome Coulon.
